Recently, Krafton, the developer of “PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds”, released its financial report for the first quarter of 2024.

The financial report shows that Krafton’s operating income in the first quarter of 2024 reached 665.9 billion won (US$488 million), operating profit was 310.5 billion won (US$202.7 billion), and net profit for the current period was 348.6 billion won (US$255 million). Operating income in the first quarter increased by 24.6% quarter-on-quarter, setting a new record for quarterly operating income; operating profit increased by 89.0% quarter-on-quarter.

Operating income is divided by platform, PC/console is 255.2 billion won (US$187 million), mobile games is 402.3 billion won (US$295 million), and others is 8.4 billion won (US$6.1 million).

The financial report stated: “Thanks to the popularity of the Rondo map update released in the fourth quarter of last year and the launch of evolutionary weapon skins in the first quarter of this year, the number of monthly active users and sales of PC/console “PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds” reached 2022 F2P The highest number since the (free-to-play) transition.” Krafton said that in order to continue to maintain the continued growth of “PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds” sales and traffic, the company is “actively promoting investment and development of IP” to some extent.

At the same time, Krafton also announced its new release plan.

The mobile game “Dark and Darke” is expected to undergo another closed beta in June, and plans to launch a public beta in South Korea in the third quarter. In addition, based on the results of the Korean release, we will continue to improve product perfection and plan to launch it globally in the fourth quarter.

In terms of investment, Krafton has invested in companies such as RED ROVER and C77 Entertainment. The two companies are developing a battle royale PVP game based on “Snowpiercer” and a first-person shooter online game respectively.
