Recently, Microsoft released its financial report for the third quarter of fiscal year 2024 ending on March 31, 2024. The financial report showed that Microsoft’s revenue for the quarter was US$61.86 billion, a year-on-year increase of 17%, exceeding analysts’ expectations of US$60.8 billion. Net profit was US$21.94 billion, a year-on-year increase of 20%, and earnings per share were US$2.94, higher than analysts’ average estimate of US$2.82.
Among them, Xbox game revenue increased by 51% year-on-year to US$5.45 billion. This includes “55 points of net accretion from the acquisition of Activision.”
Compared with the same period last year, Xbox content and services revenue increased by 62%. This includes “61 points of net accretion from the Activision acquisition.” Xbox hardware revenue fell 31% compared with the same period last year. This was in line with its expectations, which was a year-on-year decline.
