As the release date of Black Myth: Wukong is getting closer, the industry is paying close attention to any developments related to this product. Today, a store called “Black Myth JD Flagship Store” released the store page for the physical version of Black Myth: Wukong, and then suddenly removed it from the shelves (the link has expired at the time of publication), which has attracted widespread attention.

According to the content revealed on the page, the limited physical version of “Black Myth: Wukong” is divided into “Deluxe Edition” and “Collector’s Edition”:

The “Deluxe Edition” is limited to 20,000 sets and is priced at 820 yuan.It includes a 1:1 size brass hoop; a three-piece jewelry set consisting of a necklace, a ring and a badge; a color-printed silk scroll of “Chaotic Peaches”; a collection iron box and limited edition collection cards; and a redemption code for downloading the digital deluxe version of the Wegame platform.

The “Collector’s Edition” is limited to 10,000 sets and is priced at 1,998 yuan.It includes a 40cm tall model of the protagonist[Facing Destiny]; a three-piece jewelry set consisting of a necklace, a ring and a badge; a color-printed silk scroll[Heart Sutra]; a collection iron box and limited edition collection cards; and a redemption code for downloading the digital deluxe version of the Wegame platform.

The page shows that the pre-sale time will be divided into two waves:

The first wave of pre-sales will open at 10:00 on June 8, and full payment pre-sales will be made at 20:00 that evening. After that, the products will be shipped in sequence according to the order.

The second wave of pre-sales will open for reservations on June 11, with full payment pre-sales starting at 20:00 that evening, and shipments will follow in order of order.

Although Game Science has not yet made an official announcement, everyone generally recognizes the authenticity of the news and is eagerly waiting for tomorrow.

With more than two months to go before its official launch on August 20, Black Myth: Wukong has already started pre-sale of limited physical editions. This is the first time such an operation has been seen in a domestic game.

Of course, Black Myth: Wukong also ranks first in China in terms of size and popularity.

Previously, there were many different estimates of the cost of the game on the Internet. The highest number that Gyro has heard so far is that the R&D and publicity costs are as high as 900 million yuan. If we use this number, based on the price of 268 yuan for the regular version, sales of more than 3.4 million copies can basically cover the cost. Of course, excluding the channel share, the actual sales volume needs to be higher. (Whether the cost is really that high is still to be discussed, and the number is only for reference and for the purpose of discussion in this article)

Given the popularity of Black Myth: Wukong in China and its overseas response in recent years, many people speculate that it should not be a problem for it to sell 4-5 million copies in the global market, and it may even reach tens of millions if we are optimistic. In other words, it is not a big problem for Black Myth: Wukong to break even or even make money.

Judging from the “Deluxe Edition” and “Collector’s Edition” revealed today, Gyro speculates that Game Science will most likely focus on IP shaping and open source as much as possible – using cross-border collaboration and sales of peripherals to reduce revenue pressure and expand the brand effect.

In any case, Game Science is still “crossing the river by feeling the stones”, and everything will have to wait until Black Myth: Wukong is officially released before we can make a final conclusion. If tomorrow’s limited edition physical version can sell well, perhaps we can have more confidence in it, and more.
